Quick answers
How do AllHay auctions work?
A seller creates a hay lot with photos, location, quantity, starting bid, bid increment, auction length, and pickup, delivery, and payment terms. AllHay reviews the listing before it goes live. Registered buyers bid during the timed auction. When it closes, the highest valid bidder wins, subject to any reserve and the seller’s published terms. AllHay then shares the parties’ contact details so they can arrange payment and fulfillment directly.
How much does it cost?
A Standard Auction has no upfront publishing cost. Sellers may optionally purchase added promotion: Featured Auction for $99, Featured + Buyer Outreach for $249, or Maximum Promotion for $299. If an auction results in a completed sale, AllHay charges the seller a 3% success fee, capped at $500. If the auction does not result in a sale, there is no seller success fee.
Who can see my auction?
Published auctions can be discovered by visitors browsing AllHay, including buyers outside your local area. The listing shows the lot details and seller terms you provide. Live bid amounts and the bidding panel are available to members whose account email is verified. Optional promotion packages can add featured placement, direct buyer outreach, and social promotion.
How are bidders verified?
A bidder must use a registered AllHay account, verify a phone number by SMS, and maintain an active refundable card authorization for the specific auction before placing a bid. Members may separately complete identity or business verification for additional trust signals.
Does AllHay handle the money for the hay sale?
No. AllHay does not collect, hold, escrow, or transfer the winning-bid amount. The buyer pays the seller directly using the method and deadline agreed between them and stated in the listing. AllHay only processes its own platform charges, such as an optional promotion purchase or the seller success fee; those charges are separate from the purchase price of the hay.
Payment & delivery
The hay transaction stays between buyer and seller.
AllHay provides the marketplace, bidding tools, notifications, contact exchange, and reputation system. We do not hold the winning-bid money or transport the hay.
- Buyer pays seller directly
- Buyer and seller arrange pickup or delivery
- Both can leave a public transaction review
